Flex Screen Share Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
Who we are
Flex Screen Share is made by Elixir Consultancy Services Ltd ("ElixirCS", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 05821983. Our address is 7 Croftflat Drive, Fenay Bridge, Huddersfield, HD8 0FS, United Kingdom.
This policy covers the Flex Screen Share app for iPhone and iPad. Our website has its own Website Privacy Policy.
For any question about privacy, or to make a request about your data, email support@elixircs.com.
The short version
- The app doesn't send any information about you to us. We don't run any servers for it.
- It has no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking.
- Your Mac's screen goes straight from your Mac to your device. The app never records or saves it.
- Your saved Macs and passwords stay on your device.
- Apple handles all payments.
What the app keeps on your device
The app stores the following on your iPhone or iPad so that it can work. None of it is sent to us.
- Saved Macs. The name, address, port, user name, group, notes and settings you enter for each Mac, and when you last connected. If you use Secure Connection, this also includes the SSH user name and port, and the Mac's identity (its host key) once you confirm it.
- Passwords. Only if you turn on Remember in Keychain. They are kept in the iOS Keychain with "this device only" protection, so they don't sync to iCloud Keychain and can't be moved to another device.
- Free sessions. To apply the free limits, the app keeps a record of today's sessions, including the address of each Mac and how long you used it. It also keeps a count of today's sessions in the Keychain. So that it can reopen a session if the app closes unexpectedly, it keeps that session's Mac address, port and user name. It never keeps passwords for this.
- Pro status. Whether Pro is active, and when a subscription ends.
- Settings. Your choices, such as touch mode and where the controls sit on the screen.
- A diagnostic log. This is described below.
The app shares some of this with its own widgets on your device, so that Quick Connect can show your saved Macs. Like other app data, it can be included in backups you make of your device, such as iCloud Backup.
Your Mac's screen
- The app connects directly to the Mac you choose, using the Screen Sharing built into macOS. The picture, and your clicks and key presses, travel between your Mac and your device over your network.
- They don't pass through any server run by us, and we can't see them.
- The picture is shown on your screen and held in memory only while you're connected. The app doesn't record it, save it or take screenshots of it.
- Standard screen sharing isn't encrypted on the network. After you sign in, someone who can watch traffic on that network could see the picture and what you type. Use it on networks you trust, or turn on Secure Connection. Secure Connection encrypts the session using your Mac's Remote Login (SSH).
- If you reach your Mac through a VPN, such as Tailscale, your connection also goes through that VPN. The VPN provider's own terms and privacy policy apply.
Clipboard
The app only uses your clipboard when you tap a button on its Clipboard screen. Paste sends the text on your device's clipboard to the Mac. Copy Remote Text copies the Mac's clipboard text to your device. It isn't passed on to your other Apple devices through Universal Clipboard. Only text is moved. Text from the Mac is kept in the app's memory for that connection and cleared when you disconnect.
Diagnostic log
To help fix connection problems, the app keeps a log on your device of what it did, such as connection attempts, errors and network changes. The log is on by default. You can turn it off with the Capture diagnostics switch on the app's Diagnostics screen, which you open by tapping Version in Settings ten times.
The log can include:
- the names and addresses of the Macs you connect to;
- user names, shortened to their first letter;
- whether a password was entered, and how many characters it has; and
- details about your device, such as its model, iOS version, language, network type and memory use.
It never includes passwords, the text you type on the Mac or pictures of the screen. The log is limited to a few megabytes, and older entries are removed as new ones are added. The app also writes the same entries to the iOS system log on your device.
When a connection fails and the log is on, the app may check whether that Mac can be reached, by looking up its address and briefly connecting to it. This only contacts the Mac you were trying to reach.
The log only leaves your device if you choose to share or copy it, for example to email it to us. If you send it to us, we only use it to help with your problem.
Permissions
- Local Network. Lets the app find Macs on your network that have Screen Sharing turned on, and connect to them. Without it, the app can't reach Macs on your local network.
- Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. Used only when you ask the app to type your saved password on the Mac's login screen, to check that it's you. iOS does the check, and the app never receives your face or fingerprint data.
The app doesn't ask for access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, location or notifications, and it doesn't ask to track you.
Third parties
The app doesn't include any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking tools. Apart from connecting to your Macs, and to Apple for purchases, it doesn't send information anywhere.
It is built with open-source code, including RoyalVNCKit for screen sharing and SwiftNIO SSH for Secure Connection. This code runs on your device and doesn't send information anywhere. The full list is in the app, under Settings, then Open source licences.
Apple provides the App Store, In-App Purchase, and the Face ID and Touch ID checks. Apple's use of your information is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
If you tap a link in the app to another website, such as Tailscale's download page, that website's own privacy policy applies.
Purchases
Flex Screen Share Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple takes the payment and holds your payment details. We don't receive your name, email address or card details.
The app checks your purchases with Apple on your device. We don't run a server that stores purchase records. Apple gives us sales reports, and these don't tell us who you are.
If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you include, such as a diagnostic log. We use it only to reply and to help you. Our legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in answering your message.
How long information is kept
- Information on your device stays there until you delete it in the app or delete the app. Deleting a saved Mac also deletes its saved passwords. Records of free sessions from earlier days are removed automatically.
- iOS can keep Keychain items after an app is deleted. To be sure your passwords are gone, delete your saved Macs in the app before you delete the app.
- We keep support emails while we help you and for a reasonable time afterwards, and then delete them.
Deleting your information
The app doesn't create an account, and we don't hold any information about you from the app, so there is nothing for us to delete there. You can remove everything the app keeps by deleting your saved Macs and then deleting the app.
To ask us to delete emails or logs you have sent us, email support@elixircs.com with the subject "Flex Screen Share data deletion request".
Children
Flex Screen Share is for a general audience. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
If you're in the UK or the European Union, data protection law gives you rights over your personal information. You can ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, and ask for it in a portable format.
Because the app doesn't send us your information, these rights will usually apply to emails and logs you have sent us. To use them, email support@elixircs.com.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes how it handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
